ASK THE EXPERT: I HAVE DULL SKIN, HOW CAN I GET BRIGHTER SKIN?

Everyone is seeking brighter, fresher, dewy skin, especially after a festive season of too much boozing and far too much cheese. Our resident expert, Rachael Collins gave us her top tips and products to give us the freshest face possible in 2017.

Exfoliating your skin with a gentle enzyme mask once a week is advisable to keep your skin dewy and renewed. Exfoliation removes the top layer of skin and encourages the skin cells to regenerate, giving you refreshed, new-look skin.

If you suffer from excess dry skin build up use an AHA cream daily to exfoliate. AHA or alpha hydroxyl acid originates from milk and fruit sugars. The most common types are lactic acid and glycolic acid. Both of these acids penetrate the skin easily and work by removing the ‘glue’ from the upper layer of skin which is clinging onto old, dead skin cells. Defy from Cosmedix has a high concentration of lactic acid, but also utilises natural oils including olive, almond, sunflower seed and grapefruit, all of which are bursting with antioxidants to perfect and moisturise the skin.

Follow this with a good quality antioxidant serum or face oil such as CPR by Cosmedix. This serum has a very high concentration of vitamins and antioxidants to quickly correct the appearance of redness, irritation and damage and give your skin a dewy, fresh glow. Finish with your usual moisturiser. And make sure to use an SPF during the day to protect your new fresh skin post exfoliation and serum!

Also giving yourself a mini face massage is highly beneficial, this will kick start your blood circulation bringing your skin to life. Having a facial at least once a month and regular LED light facial treatments will earn your skin extra brownie points and help retain that glow!
